  1. The "fish and guests smell after three days" line appeared in Benjamin Franklin's "Poor Richard's Almanac", in at least two places.
    From memory, I have:

    "Fish and house guests stink after three days."

    and

    "After three days, a gentleman tires of rain, a guest, and weather rainy."
